Migrations: The Texas Border
Syntax
These photographs are my experience witnessing migrants crossing the Texas/Mexico border in the summer of 2021.
Many combined and unrelated events spanning decades led to one of the largest influx of migrants coming through the Texas/Mexico border on record. I found myself on the border in with an interest in observing first-hand what was occuring. My heart’s interest and therefore the focus of this work was on those seeking asylum from countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, and Haiti, in addition to thousands of others from Central America and South America.
My interest pulled me there. My heartbreak kept me captive until I was emptied of all ways of expressing what I witnessed: pain and suffering mixed with profound moments of joy.
